Our Goal

  • Reform, strengthen and modernize Mississippians' thinking and understanding of reckless driving and its impact on citizens and families
  • Encourage sound and sustainable options for educating and understanding of reckless driving
  • Make the JJD Foundation a responsive organization to work with the Department of Transportation and law enforcement agencies to help raise awareness
  • Help move Mississippi and the nation to an informed understanding of the urgency and awareness of reckless driving
  • To positively impact the academic success of students at Jackson State University and raise funds for the Josten J. Day Annual Scholarship.

In April 2018, Josten J. Day at the age of 25 was killed in an accident caused by a reckless driver, driving on the wrong side of the road.

Josten was heading north when the driver of a southbound car forced him off the road, his car hit an embankment and flipped several times, and the driver did not stop. The accident occurred on Highway 51 in Canton, MS.

Josten was a junior at Jackson State University, pursuing a degree in Physical Education and Recreation.
A kind and generous young man, who never met a stranger, Josten enjoyed his life, his family, and his community.He was an all-around athlete, participating in soccer, football, baseball, and basketball at Terry High School and at Holmes Community College.

Josten was a joy to know and only wanted the best for family, friends, and his fellowman.
